Dental implants are the ideal way to replace missing teeth. They offer a permanent, fixed solution, and they look highly realistic – implants are the closest thing you can get to real teeth.
We regularly use implants to replace individual teeth for our patients. We can discuss your requirements further and find the right solution for you during a free initial consultation at our dental clinic in Rugby. Dental implants are permanent alternatives to natural teeth. They consist of a small metal screw, with an artificial tooth (such as a crown or bridge) attached. The implant itself is located in the jawbone, in place of the tooth’s root. The procedure is safe and creates a natural-looking smile.
Here are some of the key benefits of dental implants:
- Implants are permanent and fixed, so they don’t move around and feel just like real teeth
- Your new artificial teeth can be made to blend in with your existing teeth
- Implants let you eat and drink as normal – they won’t move, wobble or cause pain
- When they’re properly looked after, implants can last a lifetime
- The structure of adjacent teeth is maintained as they don’t need to be prepared or ground down
- Implants preserve bone, unlike other tooth replacement options which can cause bone loss
If you have more missing teeth, then multiple implants are an option too. You won’t usually need an implant for every tooth as we’ll be able to link them together.
There are various restorative dentistry options for replacing teeth, such as bridges and dentures. We’ll take the time to discuss all your options with you, giving you the advice and support you need to make a decision.
This is what happens when you have dental implants to replace individual teeth:
Step 1 – Free consultation: You’ll get to meet an expert in dental implants who can give you a diagnosis and discuss your options. If required, we’ll take x-rays and perform a CT scan.
Step 2 – Treatment: We fit the titanium implants, which is a small surgical procedure performed under local anaesthetic. We can also fit temporary crowns – you need never be without a tooth!
Step 3 – Healing: The healing process will take three to six months. We’ll advise you on all the necessary aftercare, and you’ll have check-ups to ensure your implants are healing as expected.
Step 4 – Permanent tooth fitting: We take impressions and create permanent, natural-looking porcelain crowns in our laboratory, ensuring they match your adjacent teeth.
Let the professionals at Bilton Dental Clinic answer all your questions so you can make an informed decision about your dental health.
Implants need the right aftercare. We’ll advise you before your surgery and will make sure you have everything you need to look after them. Once your implants have bonded with your jawbone (which usually takes a few months), you’ll be able to look after them just like natural teeth, with a good brushing and flossing routine – plus regular visits to the dentist and hygienist.
